Hello, world! Or rather… hello, wanderer of the information superhighway (⌐■_■)
If you’re reading this, it means you somehow stumbled upon my little digital hideout. Maybe you followed a link from somewhere, maybe you were searching for something completely different and ended up here by accident. Either way, welcome. Pull up a chair, grab a warm drink, and make yourself at home.
Who am I? ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ
My name is Biagio Scaglia. I’m a Full Stack Software Developer and UX/UI Designer from Bari, Italy. By day I write code in React, TypeScript, .NET, and React Native. By night… well, I also write code, but for my own projects. And sometimes I play video games until 3 AM. And watch anime. And tinker with old hardware. You get the idea.
My main creation is Vellum - RPG Companion, a mobile app I designed and built for tabletop RPG players who need a digital character sheet and campaign manager that doesn’t feel like a spreadsheet from 2007.
Why this blog? (´・ω・`)
I’ve been wanting to build a personal site for years. Not a portfolio with a clean sans-serif font and a grid of project cards. Not a Medium clone. Not a Substack newsletter optimized for subscriber conversion.
I wanted something that felt like mine.
Something that reminded me of the sites I used to visit as a kid, back when the Internet was a collection of personal homepages hosted on GeoCities and Angelfire. Pages built by hand, pixel by pixel, with animated GIFs of spinning envelopes and “Under Construction” banners.
Back then, every site felt like walking into someone’s room. You could see their personality in every background tile, every font choice, every MIDI file that started playing without warning.
I remember spending an entire afternoon customizing the cursor on my homepage. It was a tiny pixel sword. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world.
This blog is my attempt to recreate that feeling. The design is intentionally retro — inspired by Windows 95/98 interfaces and early-2000s web aesthetics. But under the hood, it runs on Astro, a modern static site generator, with TypeScript and SCSS. Fast, accessible, and nostalgia-compatible ✧

A promise to the reader ♡
This blog will never have:
